Cognitive Evaluation & Therapy

We conduct a software-based evaluation, assessing 5 areas of cognition: Attention, Mental Flexibility, Executive Function, and Immediate and Delayed Recognition. Therapy/rehabilitation exercises are based on the testing areas whose results indicated a deficiency in performance.

Communication / Language Therapy

We offer assessment and treatment of adults and adolescents experiencing speech, language, and voice impairments.

Videonystagmography (VNG)

Videonystagmography (VNG) is a technology for testing inner ear and central motor functions, a process known as vestibular assessment. It involves the use of infrared goggles with sensitive video cameras to trace eye movements during visual stimulation and positional changes to aid in the narrowing of the origin of a neural deficit if present. Three components to the testing: Oculomotor testing, Positional testing, and Caloric testing.

Vestibular/Ocular-Motor Screening (VOMS)

Vestibular/Ocular-Motor Screening (VOMS) is a symptom-based evaluation using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS); used to determine the severity of four specific symptoms (headache, dizziness, nausea, fogginess), if provoked, by a series of head and/or eye movements, which could indicate the presence of vestibular or ocular-motor impairment.

Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT)

After obtaining a baseline VAS score for the same four symptoms assessed using the VOMS, vestibular and ocular-motor rehabilitation exercises are performed repetition-style, and a post-exercise VAS  symptom score is obtained after each exercise. Three exercise categories: Head, Neck/Shoulder, and Gaze Stabilization.

Balance Assessment

Using the Better Balance Analyzer (BBA) and an assessment called the modified Clinical Test of Sensory Integration and Balance (mCTSIB - consisting of 4 twenty-second trials of stationary balance exercises, each under specific conditions), we can determine how your proprioception, vision, and vestibular information are used for balance.

Balance & Gate Training

The balance training protocol consists of 16 graded stages of balance exercises that are designed to increase in difficulty, stamina, and endurance, and decrease in stability and base of support. The gait training protocol is arranged to complement the graded stages of the balance training protocol with the goal of improving posture and balance, retrain the lower extremities, and develop/improve muscle memory.
